Our Processes

With seeding and harvesting overlapping, summer on the farm is a busy time!

  • We grow multiple plantings of vegetables to keep a consistent supply of fresh produce coming into our market all season long
  • We chose our insect and disease control products with care to ensure minimal use and protect our bee population
  • We use raised plant beds to take advantage of all available heat from the sun
  • We plant with biodegradable “plastic” mulch to keep irrigation water at the root zone and help control weeds
  • We’re involved with the Elmira Produce Auction Co-Op, a cooperative of local farmers, which allows us to sell our surplus lettuce and beans, as well as buy produce we can’t grow like peaches and blueberries
  • We recommend Foodland ON for the best seasonal recipes

Our Beef and Chicken

Every year we grow and harvest hay, wheat, and corn to keep our cattle well-fed and neatly bedded. We’re also enrolled in the Ontario Corn Fed Beef Program - a quality assurance program that requires farmers to have completed livestock medicine courses, keep detailed records, and provide the best quality feed possible - so you know our cows are happy and healthy!

We source weaned Black Angus calves from Saskatchewan. These cattle are hardy, and produce young, tender beef that is excellent for marbling. We vacuum pack our steaks and roasts, brown-paper wrap our ground beef, and freeze all meat to prevent cross contamination with our fresh produce.
